Military Medal 'On the morning of 11th August 1918 during an attack on RAINECOURT east of AMIENS, this man did splendid work, and although wounded, was the first to volunteer for a bombing party on an enemy Machine Gun post which was causing considerable casualties among our troops. Owing mainly to this man's splendid marksmanship six of the enemy were killed and the post put out of action, allowing our work of consolidation to be carried on. On his return he immediately mounted the enemy machine gun in a forward position and with it formed an effective covering fire for our men and inflicted further losses on the enemy.'
