Military Medal 'Near YPRES on the 24th July 1917, whilst the position of the 114th Battery was being shelled, one gun pit was hit with a direct hit which ignited the cartridges. This gunner assisted Lieut. GWYNNE in putting out the fire, preventing an explosion in the remainder of the ammunition. By his courage and devotion to duty set a fine example.'
