Military Medal

'During the very heavy fighting in the dark days of March and April this N.C.O. set his comrades a shining example of gallantry and cheerfulness, and devotion to duty under most adverse circumstances. Also in the initial stages of the advance from VILLERS-BRETONNEUX he sprained his ankle and although repeatedly advised to withdraw he continued to press on with his gun team, reaching the final objective, which was some eight kilometres distant. This N.C.O.'s repeated display of the fines characteristics of the British soldier merit the highest praise.'
