Military Medal

'On the night 29th/30th August 1918 and following day near BARLEUX this N.C.O. successfully posted bearers and established good routes of evacuation in the pitch dark and under heavy shell fire. His task was a very difficult one in country new to him. by paying constant visits to his various posts under very trying conditions, he efficiently maintained the bearer services on a difficult sector. This N.C.O. consistently set the best of examples to his men. His conduct is characteric ??? of the high standard of his work.'
