Military Medal On 29th September 1918, during operations south of Bony, Private Eising was employed as a Company Runner. When the company was going forward he was sent back to Battalion Headquarters with despatches, and also to guide the ration mules up to the companies. He had to go through exceptionally heavy shellfire and over difficult and strange country in intense darkness and heavy rain. He delivered the message and returned with the ration. He then volunteered to guide the ration parties to each company under heavy shellfire, for which he showed utter disregard. By this splendid bearing he set a great example of courage and devotion to duty to all ranks.
