Military Medal 'During the operations of September 2nd 1918, which included the capture of HAUT ALLAINES and the high ground East of MONT ST. QUENTIN, near PERONNE, Sergeant ELDRIDGE carried on in command of his Company after all his officers had become casualties showing great ability and courage. He made a dangerous reconnaissance alone of an exposed flank under heavy machine gun fire from .77 cm guns, regardless of personal safety, and afterwards so skilfully disposed his men that they were able to hold their advanced position with very few men against greatly superior enemy numbers.'
