Military Medal

'In the operations against the enemy positions at MONT DE MERRIS near STRAZEELE on night 2nd/3rd June, 1918, Lieutenant ELLIOTT commanded the reserve platoon and displayed dash and leadership of a high order. On approaching the enemy's first line of trenches two Machine Guns were holding up the first wave. Grasping the situation immediately Lieutenant ELLIOTT deflected his two left sections and by clever handling got around these machine guns and silenced them, thus allowing the attack to proceed. Later when the O.C., Right Platoon, was killed and the Platoon became disorganised he went forward and collected the scattered men and took them to their objective.'

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in command of the reserve platoon during an attack. Seeing that two enemy machine guns were holding up the first wave, he immediately deflected his two left sections, and got round the guns and silenced them, thus allowing the attack to proceed. Later, when the officer commanding the right platoon was killed, and the platoon became disorganized, he went forward and collected the scattered men, and took them to their objective.'
