Joined N&MEF, 16 January 1919. Embarked Sydney on board SS 'Melusia', 19 February 1919. Taken on strength of Rabaul Garrison, having arrived from Kokopo for Department of Lands, 20 March 1919, and transferred from 'A' to 'C' Company, and seconded for duty in Department of Lands. Qualified for rank of Corporal, 3 July 1919. Embarked for Melbourne on board 'Marsina' from Rabaul on furlough, 1 May 1920; re-embarked Sydney, 9 August 1920; appointed Hon Sergeant with seniority next after Hon Sgt H.C.B. Nolan, 27 August 1920, and granted 1/- per diem annual increment. Discharged Rabaul, 9 May 1921. Transferred to Civil Administration at Rabaul, 9 May 1921.
