Military Medal 'During the attack on DECLINE COPSE, near ZONNEBEKE, East of YPRES, on 26.10.17, this N.C.O. showed great gallantry and devotion to duty. He was of great assistance in the reorganisation on the forming-up line following the partial destruction of the attacking platoon by shell fire, and kept his men well under control during the advance and attack. By his bravery and coolness during the heavy shelling which followed after the position was captured, he set a fine example to his men and kept his superiors well informed as to progress and situation.'
