Found guilty, 9 August 1916, of being absent without leave, midnight, 9 August, to 3.20 pm, 12 August 1916: awarded 3 days' Field Punishment No 2 and forfeiture of 3 days' pay; total forfeiture of pay: 6 days. Found guilty, 30 October 1916, of being absent without leave, 5 pm, 30 October, to 9.30 am, 4 November 1916: awarded 5 days' Field Punishment No 2; forfeiture of a total of 11 days' pay.

Proceeded overseas to France, 25 November 1916.

Admitted to 10th Australian Field Ambulance, 19 February 1917 (hernia), and transferred to 2nd Casualty Clearing Station, 21 February 1917.
