Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 26 March 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 31 March 1916.

Admitted to 2nd Field Ambulance, 7 September 1916 (scabies); transferred to Divisional Rest Station, 8 September 1916; discharged to duty, 5 October 1916; rejoined Bn, in the field, 6 October 1916.

On leave, 26 January 1918; rejoined Bn from leave, 6 October 1916.

Admitted to 2nd Field Ambulance, 22 February 1918 (venereal disease: gonorrhoea); transferred to 53rd Casualty Clearing Station, 22 February 1918; to Ambulance Train No 25, 23 February 1918, and admitted to 39th General Hospital, Havre, 25 February 1918; discharged from hospital, 3 April 1918; total period of treatment for venereal disease: 41 days; rejoined Bn, in the field, 20 April 1918.

Marched out to England for return to Australia, 17 January 1919; marched in to No 1 Command Depot, Sutton Veny, 18 January 1919.

Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Kildonian Castle, 21 March 1919; disembarked Melbourne, 7 May 1919; discharged Melbourne, 6 July 1919.
