Wounded in action, 15 April 1917 (gun shot wound, thigh and right buttock), admitted to 6th Australian Field Ambulance, and transferred same day to Casualty Clearing Station; to 6th General Hospital, Rouen, 16 April 1917; died of wounds, 23 April 1917.
