Proceeded overseas to France, 15 February 1917; joined 18th Bn, in the field, 23 February 1917.

Wounded in action, 15 April 1917 (gun shot wound, thigh and right buttock), admitted to 6th Australian Field Ambulance, and transferred same day to Casualty Clearing Station; to 6th General Hospital, Rouen, 16 April 1917; died of wounds, 23 April 1917.
