Military Medal

'For devotion to duty at BROODSEINDE RIDGE east of YPRES on 4th October, 1917. Pte. FAHEY conveyed a message from Battalion Headquarters through our own barrage to the advanced elements of a Company who had gone beyond our own barrage. Owing to the dauntless and expeditious manner in which he carried this message these troops were withdrawn before the protective barrage lifted and increased in intensity and by doing so doubtless saved many lives. He continued to carry messages backward and forwards through very heavy shell fire for the remainder of the action.'
