Military Medal

'During the operations of 4th October 1917, East of WESTHOEK when the Batteries of the 13th F.A. Brigade were firing a creeping barrage covering the advance of our infantry, a heavy covering the advance of our infantry, a heavy fire was opened on them, causing casualties to personnel and guns. Fitter Sergeant FAIRWEATHER, without hesitation and at great personal risk, went from gun to gun effecting repairs, with the assistance of a fitter. It was largely owing to the work of this N.C.O. performed with great coolness and courage, that the Brigade was enabled to carry out its task efficiently and effectively. Had the repairs not been effected immediately it would have neutralised our barrage to a great extent. His devotion to duty is worthy of special recognition.'
