Military Medal

'At MORLANCOURT near ALBERT on the night of the 9th/11th June, 1918 this Stretcher Bearer was in charge of a squad established in NO MAN'S LAND during a raid. Casualties (20) were heavy, but this bearer, with a total disregard of personal danger and with tireless energy, made trip after trip with the wounded. One man being missing after the withdrawal of the party he immediately went back under heavy Machine Gun fire and searched the ground until he found him, badly wounded. it was entirely due to his gallant conduct that not a man was left behind.'
