Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. With a few men he rushed a blockhouse under heavy fire and captured twelve prisoners. Later, during the work of consolidation he rendered valuable service under heavy fire. He set a fine example of courage and determination throughout the operations.'
