Military Medal 'At PLOEGSTEERT from 28th May, 1917, to 4th June, 1917, this man acted as No. 1 of a gun employed in wire cutting. He carried out the work required by this responsible position with great determination, skill, and energy, and succeeded in keeping his gun in action throughout the above period, even though heavy hostile fire was brought to bear upon it. This N.C.O. had done good work, and had showed conspicuous devotion to duty for a considerable period before the 4th June, 1917, on which date he was ordered to hospital by a medical officer suffering from shell shock.'
