Croix de Guerre (Belgium) Source: 'Commonwealth Gazette' No. 91 Date: Military Medal 'This man is a Battalion runner, and was sent on an urgent message to 4 companies in the line, near FRAMERVILLE, east of AMIENS, on the 11th August, 1918. His task was a most dangerous one, he was continually under the fire of machine guns, and snipers. For some time he was forced to take cover in a shell hole on account of the concentrated fire that was brought on him. He eventually delivered the despatches and brought back information that was urgently needed at Headquarters. He has throughout the operations shown great courage and devotion to duty.'
