Military Medal 'Acted as Stretcher Bearer during attack on HINDENBURG LINE South of REINCOURT on 11th April, 1917. He was noticed for his unselfish courage in rescuing wounded and getting them back to Dressing Station during morning of attack enemy maintained heavy Machine Gun Fire and Rifle Fire across No Man's Land and showed no respect for Stretcher Bearers a number of whom were wounded. It was entirely owing to the daring and devotion to duty of the Stretcher Bearers that any of our badly wounded men were recovered. he is deserving of an award.'
