Contracted paratyphioid A fever, Helouan Convalescent Home; admitted to No 1 Australian General Hospital for 5 weeks; Medical Board recommended being invalided to Australia.

Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Wandilla', 18 December 1915; disembarked, 14 January 1916; admitted to No 5 Australian General Hospital.

Re-embarked on board RMS 'Orontes', 29 March 1916.

Posted for duty to No 2 Australian Divisional Base Depot, Etaples, 13 June 1916; attached to Base for duty, 25 June 1916.

On sick leave to England, 4 November 1916; rejoined unit from leave, 25 Nocember 1916.
