DSO and Bar 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. His brigade reached its third objective, but was ordered back owing to the division on the right being held up at the first objective. His brigade repelled several counter attacks and held on when the brigade on the right was in difficulties. It was largely owing to his influence and presence in this advanced position that the operations were successful.'
