Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He reorganized parties of infantry under heavy barrage and held on to our exposed flank until ordered to withdraw his mortar, which he succeeded in doing. Throughout he was of the greatest assistance and set a fine example.'
