Military Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and tenacious devotion to duty during operations east of SAILLY LAURETTE along the SOMME, between the 8th and 31st August, 1918. On the night of 10th August, Corporal Grimshaw was in charge of a wireless station which moved into a forward position and rendered excellent service, at daylight the following morning the station was found to be under direct enemy observation and heavy machine gun fire - despite this, Corporal Grimshaw dismantled the station with admirable courage and moved it to a new headquarters and re-established communication. On the 22nd and 23rd August he was in charge of power buzzer and amplifier stations moving forward with assaulting battalions and on all occasions his station were set up rapidly under most hazardous conditions and without regard to personal danger, and by this means information of the greatest importance was sent back. His work throughout the offensive operations has been of the highest value and his example and devotion to duty are worthy of the utmost commendation.'
