Legion D'Honneur: Medaille Militaire (France) 'Enlisted A.I.F. 16th September, 1914. Landed GALLIPOLI Peninsula 24th April, 1915, was present and took part in the following attacks on Turkish positions: May 2nd, 19th August, 6th 8th, 21st, 27th. Promoted Corporal 25th May, 1915. Promoted Sergeant 18th August, 1915. Evacuated Peninsula 18th/19th December, 1915. Service EGYPT, January to June, 1916. Promoted Q.M.S. 18th September, 1916. Service with Battalion in FRANCE. BOIS GRENIER, POZIERES SECTOR, MOQUET FARM, VOORMEZEELE, 'THE BLUFF' (YPRES), GUEUDECOURT. During the while of Q.M.S. GUPPY's service all his actions have shown an unfailing and gallant devotion to duty. At POZIERES whilst acting Q.M.S. he was instrumental in bringing rations to the front line, which at the time, owing to heavy enemy artillery fire, was a most difficult and dangerous duty. He is a man upon whom I would place the greatest reliance. Whilst under by direct personal command, his conduct and influence, particularly in action has been a splendid example of keen, courageous, and intelligent devotion to duty on all occasions. C.Q.M.S. GUPPY has not been away from duty with the Battalion since its inception, except on leave to U.K. and for three weeks on GALLIPOLI when he was attached to 163rd Brigade, 54th Division (British) at SUVLA, for special sniping and scouting duty.'
