Military Medal 'For his heroic action in rescuing a comrade during enemy attack near DERNANCOURT South West of ALBERT on April 5th, 1918. After his Company had withdrawn, Private HALL discovered that one of his section was missing. Without hesitation he ran out under a hurricane barrage of Machine Gun and shell fire a distance of 800 yards and carried back his mate to safety. Although exhausted he persisted in bandaging his mate and assisting in carrying him to the R.A.P. This set a fine example to his Company of disregard for danger and devotion to duty.'
