Military Medal 'For untiring energy and gallantry during the fighting near DERNANCOURT South West of ALBERT on 5th April 1918 when acting as Runner. he repeatedly carried messages between Battalion Headquarters and his Company and to other Companies and units in the forward posts during the extremely heavy Artillery, Machine Gun and Rifle fire. Messages of great importance were carried by this Runner with despatch during most critical stages of the battle.'
