Military Medal 'On 12th October, 1917, East of YPRES, this N.C.O. was conspicuous for his gallantry and great devotion to duty. He acted as quartermaster in an Advanced Post and it was largely due to his unremitting efforts, under heavy shell fire and in very severe weather conditions, that all the Posts were kept supplied with necessities. on many occasions, he acted as stretcher bearer under heavy shell fire, although this was not a part of his duties, and brought in severely wounded men to his Post. His example throughout was most inspiring to his comrades.'
