Wounded in action, 15 November 1915; discharged from 5th Field Ambulance, 18 November 1915. Evacuated from Gallipoli, 13 December 1915; transferred to Alexandria: disembarked from HS 'Lanfranc', 23 December 1915 (bullet wound, skull), and admitted to No. 2 Auxiliary Convalescent Depot, Heliopolis, 24 December 1915.

Commenced return to Australia from Suez on board HS 'Karoola', 20 January 1916. Discharged, 17 June 1916 (medical unfitness, gun shot wound: fractured skull).
