Military Cross 'During the capture of Mont St. Quentin, on 1st September 1918, he led his men forward with great skill and gallantry, in face of extemely heavy machine gun fire, until he had secured important tactical ground, which enabled a secone and successful attack to be quickly launched. Reorganizing under most adverse conditions, he moved his men skilfully for the second attack, a daring feat carried out with a minimum of casualties.. Although severely wounded, he remained on duty until the position was secure.'
