Military Medal 'During the operations near BELLICOURT on the 30th September to 2nd October 1918, Lance Corporal BARNIDGE was No. 1 of a Lewis Gun Team. All his crew became casualties during the early stages of the attack but he continued to work his gun alone until it was put out of action by an enemy machine gun. At one stage noticing one of his Officers and three men rushing a strong post he took up a position in the open and gave them covering fire which was of the greatest assistance to them. Throughout the whole period he displayed resource and courage of a very high order.'
