'At GHORANIYEN BRIDGE HEAD on left bank of JORDAN RIVER on 11th April, 1918, he was detailed to assist Medical Orderlies who were unable to cope with the number of wounded. He displayed conspicuous gallantry in repeatedly re-crossing the fire swept zone between the firing line and dressing station, carrying stretcher cases in each instance, a distance of 500 yards. Much of this distance was under considerable machine gun and rifle fire.'
