Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. During the consolidation of a captured position enemy snipers caused a number of casualties, whereupon he crawled forward in the daylight and located two snipers, both of whom he killed. His work was the admiration of all who saw him.'
