Military Medal

'On the 6th August, 1918 and 7th August, 1918 at VILLERS BRETONNEUX near AMIENS, this N.C.O. and Sapper [6261 A.V. Sims and Leyshon] were two of a party manning a forward exchange. The lines from this exchange to batteries passed through a heavily shelled area. Both these men showed an utter disregard for personal safety and by continually patrolling and mending lines day and night, thereby enabling most satisfactory communications to be maintained to the batteries and information of artillery importance to be transmitted to Headquarters prior to Zero Hour.'
