Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and ability on 12th and 13th July, 1915, during the operations on the Gallipoli Peninsula, in repairing telephone lines and keeping communications open under heavy shell and rifle fire, at times when any interruption to communications would have been serious. He showed great bravery, resource and devotion to duty. He has previously been brought to notice for similar good work performed during the period 6th to 15th May.'
