War service: Egypt, Western Front Embarked Fremantle, 22 November 1915; disembarked Egypt, 14 December 1915. Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 29 March 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 3 April 1916. Wounded in action, 22 July 1916 (contusion, stomach); admitted to 2nd Field Ambulance, 23 July 1916, and transferred same day to 29th Casualty Clearing Station; to 16th General Hospital, Le Treport, 24 July 1916; to No 3 Convalescent Depot, 4 August 1916; discharged to duty, 8 August 1916; rejoined Bn, in the field, 16September 1916. Admitted to 2nd Australian Field Ambulance, 9 October 1916 (trench feet); discharged to duty, 17 October 1916. Reported missing in action, 16 April 1917; subsequently reported captured at Lagnicourt, wounded right hand, prisoner of war interned at Gef Lager, Dulmen Westf. Repatriated to England; arrived in England, 26 December 1918.
