Meritorious Service Medal 'On the 25th January, 1918, at EMU CAMP, NEUVE EGLISE. This N.C.O. was in charge of a group of Grenade Firers, when a grenade partially left the rifle, allowing the pin to fly. He pulled the grenade out, when the fuse would be heard burning. Unfortunately he dropped the grenade, but immediately picked it up and calmly threw it well out just in time. his action was of the greatest coolness, and was undoubtedly instrumental in saving many mens' lives.'
