Wounded in action, 4 June 1917 (gun shot wound, buttock and abdomen); admitted to 2nd Australian General Hospital, Wimereux, 5 June 1917. Transferred to England, 9 June 1917; admitted to 3rd London General Hospital, 10 June 1917. Transferred to No. 3 Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford, 24 September 1917; granted furlough, 27 September 1917, to report to No. 2 Command Depot, Hurdcott, 11 October 1917.

Proceeded overseas to France, 14 February 1918; rejoined 43rd Bn, 21 February 1918.

Wounded in action, 1 September 1918 (gun shot wound, right arm). Transferred to England, 5 September 1918; admitted to No. 1 Southern General Hospital, Stourbridge, 6 September 1918. Granted furlough, 12 November 1918, to report to No. 1 Command Depot, Sutton Veny, 27 November 1918.
