Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during operations North East of BELLICOURT between 29th September and 1st October 1918. Throughout the operation these two Stretcher Bearers [MASON and W.G. POTTER] continually carried out wounded under intense Machine Gun and shell fire, taking many cases out in broad daylight from within 200 to 400 yards of the enemy line. They carried out all wounded men irrespective of Unit and when unable to obtain stretchers made use of ground sheets.'
