Wounded in action, Gallipoli, 2 May 1915 (gun shot wound, right thigh); transferred by HS 'Gascon' to Alexandria, 3 May 1915; discharged from Shebin-el Kom. Hospital to Convalescent Camp, 30 July 1915; transferred from 1st Australian General Hospital, to 1st Auxiliary Hospital, 10 August 1915. Admitted to A&NZ Convalescent Depot, Helouan, 3 September 1915; discharged for return to Australia, 16 September 1915.

Commenced return to Australia on board HT 'Beltana' (date not recorded).

Medical Board recommended, 14 October 1915, his discharge as 'permanently unfit for Military Service'.
