Medals |
Military Medal 'On 12th August, 1918, east of PROYART, Corporal McCROCHON led a patrol of 5 to push out ahead of PROYART Village. He rushed an active machine gun just on the edge of the Village and after a bomb fight captured it and its garrison from a flank. He continued to push forward by rushes in the face of heavy machine gun fire showing considerable skill in his handling of his men. On reaching his objective - the railway line - he was still under aimed machine gun fire but he continued sniping so as to cover the advance of adjoining patrols, all the while keeping his Company Commander supplied with valuable information. Throughout he displayed bravery, determination and leadership of a high order.'
