Distinguished Conduct Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty when in charge of a Lewis gun section during an attack. He was wounded three times before the second objective was reached, but he kept his gun in action until wounded again, and got it to the final objective when all the other teams had become casualties. He showed great courage and determination.'
