Military Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during the operations at PASSCHENDAELE RIDGE, East of YPRES, 5th to 9th November 1917. The Company to which Sergt. MCDOUGALL belonged was subjected to an extremely heavy and destructive barrage. Casualties became very heavy and although wounded himself and greatly shaken this N.C.O., acting as C.S.M., devoted himself tirelessly to the organisation of rescue and digging parties with absolute disregard to his own safety. His example was most encouraging to his men.'
