Lance Corporal McGILL was in charge of a stretcher-Bearer squad during the advance of the 2nd and 3rd Brigades. He led his men with the utmost coolness and disregard for danger across open areas swept by heavy machine gun fire. Throughout the whole time he collected and evacuated wounded at the same time showing great iniative in managing to keep touch with the advancing R.M.O.s. His action during the above two days greatly facilitated the evacuation of wounded at that critical period.'
