War service: Egypt, Western Front Taken on strength of 60th Bn, Tel el Kebir, 26 February 1916. Found guilty, 21 March 1916, of being absent without leave from 0600 21/3/16 till 2130 on 21/3/16: awarded 7 days' Field Punishment No 2, and forfeiture of 8 days' pay. Admitted to No 2 Australian Stationary Hospital, 28 March 1916 (not yet diagnosed); discharged to unit, 7 April 1916 (influenza). Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, 18 June 1916; disembarked Marseilles, France, 29 June 1916. Reported Missing, 19 July 1916.
