'Band Sergeant McLACHLAN has conducted the band and trained its members since the inception of the 37th Battalion. He has displayed ability and assiduity in his duties. As Non Commissioned Officer in charge of Stretcher Bearers and Carrying Parties he has displayed qualities of leadership and marked bravery under fire. He has ....... the members of the Battalion that they must help the fighting men of the Battalion in every way possible and this spirit they live up to in innumerable ways.'
