Military Medal 'During the whole action east of YPRES on 20th to 23rd September 1917 Pte. McPHERSON displayed great coolness and resource. On one occasion a shell buried a man close by him, regardless of heavy shelling, he immediately dug this man out. He at all times set a splendid example to all who came in contact with him.'
