Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in the attack by 58th Battalion on PERONNE on 2nd September 1918. When his company, after PERONNE had been cleared of the enemy was pushing on in the direction of FLAMICOURT Sergeant MOON performed invaluable work in reconnoitring ahead of the company, finding passages across the marshes, and keeping touch with the enemy. The information thus gained, under constant machine gun fire, enabled his company to push on at a rapid rate, and enabled it to cope immediately with machine gun positions in front. This N.C.O. displayed great skill and leadership in his handling of the patrols and kept his company fully informed of the enemy's movements.'
