Medals |
Military Medal 'During the operations from 7th to 9th June 1917 this N.C.O. was in charge of the A.M.C. details of the 49th Battalion. He worked ceaselessly during this period and showed great skill and judgment in treating cases. When the Commanding Officer was wounded this N.C.O. came through a very heavy German barrage to attend to him. Under this heavy artillery and machine gun fire he searched for a stretcher and although knocked nearly senseless by a shell he returned with a stretcher and squad to carry the Colonel away. I consider his conduct meritorious throughout.'
