'Pte. MORRIS displayed great coolness and devotion to duty during operations at POLYGON WOOD on 19/22nd September, 1917. As a member of the Intelligence Section he led the Company for which he was guide through to the final objective, maintaining direction throughout. By his personal bravery and disregard of danger he enabled his Company Commander to have full knowledge of the Companies on his flanks. Later when the final objective had been taken he established an Observation Post and by his useful information many casualties were inflicted on the enemy by our Machine Guns.'
