Military Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during operations North East of BELLICOURT between 29th September and 1st October 1918. Trooper MULKCAHY was attached to this Battalion as Galloper. When the Battalion was moving up on the 29th September smoke barrages made it impossible to see Units on either flank. Although a continuous stream of Machine Gun bullets was coming from our left flank Trooper MULCAHY volunteered to get in touch with the right flank. This he did and maintained touch throughout. On the following day, under heavy shell fire, he took numerous messages to Brigade Headquarters and to Units on the flanks, working constantly until telephone communication could be established. His cheerfulness, utter disregard of personal danger, and whole-hearted co-operation were of the utmost value to this Unit.'
